what are the chances of an egg being fertilized on the implanon but terminated because it wasn't able to attach itself to the lining of the uterus? i've been using the implanon for 2 years but i'm afraid that i might be killing fertilized eggs?

Accepted Answer

: It is possible. One of the known effects of Implanon is to make harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus, but I am not sure what the chance is. The primary effect of Implanon is still to prevent ovulation.

Accepted Answer

No way: The uterus becomes receptive to implantation for a few days which is mostly controlled by hormones that come from the ovary. Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell based on these symptoms whether an embryo implants or not.

can egg be fertilized while on nexplanon? does nexplanon truly prevent fertilization or does it also alter the lining of uterus as a secondary control?

Accepted Answer

: The drug works primarily to prevent egg release. No egg=no pregnancy. The drug also makes the uterine lining less receptive to implantation if an egg were ever to release. (a backup safety effect)

Hmmm....: Human eggs are "invisible" because they are the size of the dot at the end of this sentence. So, a human egg is not a ball of any kind that a patient can see or touch. A doctor, a scientist, or a technician can see an egg by looking at it with a microscope or similar equipment, if they know where the egg is.

It doesn't survive: If an egg fails to attach to the uterine wall the female will slough it off with the period.

No?: I wouldn't use the word "burrow."  But the attachment is not complete for several more days.

7-10 days: Implantation happens about 7-10 days after conception.  Intercourse won't interfere with implantation.  Best wishes!

Unlikely: Once implantation occurs movement will not occur unless you miscarry.

More info needed: While this is definitely greater than average it must be evaluated in the context of your particular situation. The timing of your last period, other symptoms, medications, and the appearance of the thickening are all important considerations.  Management could range from continued observation to surgical procedures.
