Positional and mechanical influences on the diaphragm.: If the pain is fleeting,you likely have pressure from your abdomen, on the diaphragm. You can decrease that pressure by eliminating carbonated drinks, excessive caffeine use, and increased water/fibrous foods, like raw fruits and vegetables. Particularly a dark green salad at night time Will help move stomach and intestinal contents while you're sleeping.Dinner should always be your lightest meal!

See doctor: That's not a normal finding and you would benefit from having an abdominal exam done in person with your PCP. Any nausea should not be ignored, and depending on what level of your rib cage is affected will determine what could be the underlying cause. Get it checked out!

3 possibilities: Costochondritis: the place where the bony rib meets the cartilage rib can become injured and painful. Not broken unless major trauma or defect in rib.

Intercostal muscle strain: the muscle between the ribs can be torn and painful.

Pleurisy: The lung tissue can pull away from the chest wall and become painful.

All 3 are benign and should heal in 4-6 weeks. NSAIDs like Advil (ibuprofen) will help.

i found a painful little lump under my left rib cage and now its creating pain throughout my entire left side and now it hurts when i take deep breath?

Muscle spasm?: Sounds like a spasm of one of the chest wall muscles. Try rubbing it, or applying a heating pad. Can also try topical agent such as Myoflex cream or aspercreme. Does not sound like a hernia due to location. If severe and unrelenting, may need to go to the ER for a more complete evaluation.

Many possible causes: Muscle strains, pneumonia in the l lower lobe, spleen inflammation, constipation, gas cramps in the colon, etc.  See you doc for furhter evaluation.

Pain under (L) ribs: May be muscle spasm (called a stitch) that can be relieved by stretching the involved muscles. In that area, however, pain might be referred from stomach, pancreas, spleen, splenic flexure of colon, or ribs. If burning sensation &/or blisters, shingles is possible. If recent onset, stitch most likely, but if other organ problems, see pcp for workup.
