I just counted: There are 3 joints: closer to the hand, the next one called proximal interphalangeal joint, then there is the one near the fingernail, the distal interpharyngeal joint. Likely, arthritis is the cause of your discomfort.

Arthritis could: Be playing a part especially if you have had an injury in the past.  Outside of that it could very well be a trigger finger if it is an isolated finger.  Typically it will feel stiff in the morning and may lock-up.  You can try extension exercises.  Icing.  It may require an injection to help it.  If it is not getting better seek the advice of a hand doc or orthopaedic surgeon.

Needs hand surgeon: These symptoms can be caused by a range of pathology. This includes simple tendinitis or arthritis. An evaluation by a hand surgeon with appropriate imaging if needed such as X-ray or ultrasound can provide a better idea of what is going on and offer some treatment.

Joint popping: Not sure if you are just cracking your knuckles, which you should not overdue, or you're talking about actual joint subluxation/dislocation which implies an unstable joint. This should be checked out. In certain joints like the so-called basal joint of the thumb it is not unusual for this to be "out of joint" with arthritis. But with other joints it would be very abnormal to be chronically "out".

Probably a ganglion : Cyst. Typically come from a joint. Can be very painful. Most hand bumps are benign. Typically can be aspirated with a needle and decompressed or otherwise surgical excised.  Used to call them bible beater lesions because the biggest book on the house was the bible and by smacking it with the 'good book' caused them to rupture. I do not recommend this though. See an orthopaedist.
