Sleep pattern?: Hydroxyzine may cause drowsiness for many hours and usually one would take a single dose at bedtime for this purpose.  Depending on the person, some may get very drowsy with 12.5 mg others not even 100 mg. Are you thinking about sleep in 2-3 hrs cycle all through the day? Do realize it may impact your job and driving performance.

Atarax: Atarax is basically an antihistamine used to treat various allergic  problems. It would not be considered a sleep aid and one 10 mg tablet at bedtime is a very mild dose in any event. A possible side effect of atarax would be relaxation,however.

Unlikely: This is primarily an antihistamine and usually safe. Caution has been issued that it may have some adverse effects on the heart for some patients especially among  those over 65.  Its anticholinergic effect may potentially impact memory functioin as well. On the whole, the risk for these side effects are low.

Don't understand ?: Xanax (alprazolam) is a very short acting drug, and if you are taking it at night, it likely would be at very low levels by morning. Atarax is a somewhat sedating antihistamine, but if you are taking that at night, there is not much likelihood of morning residual effects. If it is bothering you, I would talk with your doctor about reducing the dose. Don't know what you mean by 'naturally? - not using alarm?

Long acting: The antihistaminic effect of Hydroxyzine lasts for at least 72 hours.  However it is unusual but not impossible for the sedating effect to last more than 24 hours.
