if i lay down after i eat or drink i start to burp condtantly and it tastes like sulfur. it intensifies until the point that i throw up.  why is this?

Sounds like reflux : Visit your doctor or try an over the counter( steer with double the dose) and see if it helps. If it does you have your answer.  Usually with reflux we say not to eat or drink 2 hr before bed to eliminate symptoms

Need examination: Your symptom could be due to an acute stomach virus or inflammation. Other organs like kidneys and gall bladder may contribute besides allergies. If you don't have a primary care physician, you can go to an urgent care center for a quick assessment and medication as indicated. Feel better

Lose weight. Elevate head of bed on blocks.

Also, gassiness/ stomach distension after meals can reflect: 1) partial gastric outlet obstruction due to gastritis/ulcer; 2) pyloric narrowing from scar; 3) gastroparesis due to delayed emptying of stomach (as w/diabetic gut neuropathy); 4) bacterial overgrowth in gut; 5) any malabsorption; 6) pancreatic maldigestion; 7) more.

Check for food: allergies or sensitivities. There's something stimulating a burping reflex that shows that something you are eating is not agreeing with your microbiome (good bacteria that helps you digest foods better, or provides necessary enzymes to help with absorption). So do a food diary and see what you're eating at the times when burping occurs, an discuss this with your doctor. You may be surprised!

I would ask you to try taking an antacid like pepcid or Prilosec, both available over the counter. If not a liquid antacid like Maalox may be even better. If this symptom doe snot go away in 2-3 days, then you should go see a doctor. Sometimes this can be a symptom of Heart problems...especially if you are over 40 years or older.
