Inflammation: Hi there
If it is red and warm it could be thrombophlebitis, which just means the vein has a small clot in it and got inflammed.  Nothing dangerous.  Apply heat every 30-60 minutes for 10 minutes or so, take Motrin as directed and it will resolve 
If it's not red and warm but bulging it is likely a varicose vein  which is easily treated by a physician who does vein work.

? inflammation: You could have had some trauma while sleeping or inadvertently and did not realize you bruised the area. If the symptoms persist, see your doctor for further evaluation and treatment.

Could inflamation: When veins get darker this means the stay longer in the leg, the circulation slow than normal, this could lead to superficial phlebitis or deep phlebitis? Check with your dr.

Vein: I think this is a vein that is becoming larger.  The arteries in this part of the leg mostly run behind your knee.  Sometimes the valves in the veins become leaky and the blood will pool in the veins and cause them to swell as they fill with blood.  Seek medical attention if they remain painful or get larger.

started pt for my knees due to a trip&fall 2wks ago.after a 2nd ptsession (massage),some little red veins appeared on the skin in the part left&above my left patella.that part hurt(burning) during massage.what caused them?bruise?how can i treat them?

Broken Blood Vessels: These are probably broken superficial blood vessels secondary to trauma and will resolve with time.The burning during message may be due to deep bruising.These will resolve with time.Continue PT and get better

Rt knee pain: Maybe related to your varicose veins and may not. Can be from lower back pain referring to your knee. Maybe arthritis pain. Need a xray or MRI   but first see a doctor to be evaluated.
