my husband had jaw pain. a panoramic x-ray showed white spots. dentist queried phleboliths. how would this affect him. could it be something else?

See oral surgeon or: Orofacial Pain specialist for second opinion. The most common type of jaw pain is a toothache. A phlebolith is a small local, usually rounded, calcification within a vein. A panoramic x-ray is inconclusive test for this condition. I think  finding a proper diagnosis and treatment may be the answer to your worries. Do not delay.

strep test was negative but lung x-ray showed bronchitis. is that what's causing my throat to be sore with white spots? dr prescribed augmentin

Maybe: If the spots were there before the augmentin, then very likely. If they appeared after starting the antibiotic, it may be oral thrush. If you are prone to vaginal yeast infections after taking antibiotics, then thrush is even more likely. If your throat does not get better by the time you finish the augmentin, I would recommend you go back to see your Dr.

Your job: ask &amp; work: to understand. It is your body; not that of others who primarily focus on their priorities (human nature for all of us). X-Ray=Hi-frequency electromagnetic radiation, i.e. above light frequencies. X-Rays simply show shadows, bone vs. water  (tissue) vs. air. White spots are likely bone (absorb/block X-Ray from reaching/exposing the film). Is blood from urinary bladder or kidneys? Big difference!

Decreased uptake: Photopenia or decreased uptake can mean further compression and loss of normal activity, ischemia or decrxeased perfusion, or sometimes result from infection. Clinical symptoms have to be correlated.

xray: On chest xrays, we typically look for white spots and possible indicators of disease.  Black spots are typically air/fat.

It depends: It really depends what "spots" you are talking about. Some scarring in the lung may not be "removable", but that does not mean that they will cause problems. Please consider seeig your physician to discuss this further, or follow-up with a pulmonologist.

Many sources...: Many medical conditions can cause spots to form on lungs.  The most common in the US include prior tuberculosis infection and/or prior histoplasmosis infection (a fungal infection).  These spots may be called "nodules" by your doctor.  If they are small (less than 8 mm) they may be followed over time with repeat/serial scans of the chest.  If in 2 years they do not change they are benign.
