Possible.: Scabies is highly contagious, but spreading requires skin-to-skin contact. If you have had no direct contact with the infested person(s), it is possible to avoid infestation. But we usually recommend that all household members use Permethrin at least once if anyone in the house is infested. This assumes, of course, that the correct diagnosis was made, by a dermatologist or other experienced md.

You may: Clean (ie. Hot water in machine) clothes, bedding &amp; towels you've come in contact w). There may be things like pillows that can’t go in the wash. Place them in a big plastic bag &amp; tie it up. Keep it in there for 48 hours because scabies can survive w/o being on a human for 24 to 36 hours. Complete therapy: Completing the course of scabies therapy and ensuring no continuing source of the scabies is needed to stop the cycle of contagiousness.To that effect, if out are dealing with an upholstered seat while infected, then one can be potentially reinfected.

They cause itching which is often worse at night. Although they can be anywhere on skin they like going into skin folds (waistline, axilla, breasts, between fingers, feet, wrists, knees,  elbows,buttocks &amp; genitalia. You aren't likely to see mites.
