Cough meds needed: Need to know more. Does anything come up with cough?  What does it look like?  A cough with blood (red) needs more than XRay. If cough with pus (yellow or green) needs medicine. Pain could be muscle tear or cracked rib or something else.

Pleurisy: Pleurisy or pleuritic pain is pain that associated with breathing. Can be caused by prolonged forceful coughing / infections/ non infectious inflammatory processes. We sometimes never figure out why people have it. If the pain continues/ gets worse/ starts to occur without coughing or sneezing could be die to a non-lung issues. In which case you should see a doctor

Herniated Disk: Sneezing and coughing resulting in back pain is a typical finding in someone with a herniated disk.  If it does not resolve on its own in a few weeks, i would see your doctor to evaluate the spine further with imaging studies.

Muscle strain/spasm: Coughing and sneezing requires an intense and rapid muscle contractions--all of the muscles surrounding your chest wall and around and under the scapula areas. Often the muscle around or under the scapulaes are "strained" from sudden and forceful coughing/sneezing, thus can cause some pain after inflammation kicked in..Good strecthing, motrin/aleve may help. If worse, contact your doc. Good luck.

Cough: It is time to go and be evaluated.  With all the coughing you have likely strained some muscles but it could be pain from the lung lining as well.

Mus: Muscle strain in lower back is most likely.  Use ice three times daily. Take Ibuprofen 3 time a day. Keep legs bent at knees and sleep with pillows under knees and between legs.
