Adjacent joints may be slightly arthritiic and be inflamed, tendons and ligaments can be stiff or tight, skin can stay swollen, joints can be inflamed.Muscles can be weak from injury or disuse.Pain in some degree can be from even a slight subtle change in mechanics.Handtherapy can help at times. Times vary.

6wks: Most healthy adults will heal a broken bone in about 6 weeks.  Hands/fingers tend to heal a little faster than other parts of the body.  Healing of the bone, however, is only one part of returning to activities.  You may need hand therapy to help regain motion in the joints adjacent to the break.

As to fixation this can be anything from a splint to cast to plating, pins and screws.

Yes, multiple ways: Depending on the timing to present to a doctor, most fractures can be set by manipulation within 7-10 days.  If longer than that time, or if inadequately reducible (set), surgery may be required to move interfering soft tissue and secure by casting, pinning, screws and possibly plates. The less severe or the more rigidly fixed, can be "moved" earlier, which may avoid stiffness later after healing.
