Timing of mediation: The most important supplement in prenatal vitamins is Folic Acid to prevent neural tube defects in the fetus. The best time to take your prenatal vitamin is at night before you go to bed. This usually eliminates the queasy tummy during the day if you take it in the am.

Yes: Yes they certainly can.  The iron in those pills can also cause general indigestion, nausea, and constipation.  Check with your physician if this is persistent.  Might try taking them with a starch like mashed potatoes to see if that relieves some of the symptoms.

Niacin?: If you've taken in a lot of Niacin and are sensitive to it, it can make you itch like crazy. I don't know of anything else from reading the ingredients of this particular preparation. Maybe somebody else on healthtap has an idea.
