what will happen if you swallowed a piece of hair down the wrong way. mine or anyone else hair?

Mostly no harm: If the wrong way is the wind pipe, then your body will respond by coughing it out. If the wrong way is the food pipe, then it will go to the stomach and will end up out of the body through the stool. But ingesting large amount of hair (as in psychiatric patients) can lead to hair ball in stomach with subsequent obstruction.

: Short answer:  do not worry.  There are many things we swallow every day that do not harm us. Including a few hairs, a few bugs, skin cells and nose drippings, and more.  Your stomach can easily handle a hair.

Can be: If you have a compulsion to eat your hair you may have trichophagia which is essentially a compulsive behavioral disorder.  If consumed alot you could develop a bezoar which is essentially a ball of hair that can obstruct your intestines or stomach.  You may want to talk to your family doctor if this is the case.

Hair: Not unless they swallow massive which can form a bezoar (massive cluster if hair) which can cause a bowel obstruction.

No: Soap (shampoo) is not harmful (usually) if swallowed and particularly in such a small amount. But learn from this that children will try or taste just about anything and it is our responsibility to prevent this. Always be aware.

You will be fine: Take a deep breath and relax. If all you swallowed was a rubber band then your body will just pass it right through. Just think of it as a big piece of calamari.

Relax: This to shall pass. Prepare for other strange items.It seems babies/toddlers use their sense of taste as part of exploring their world. The main items I worry about are drugs/button batteries and small magnets. Keep these away from baby and life will be easier.

Probably ok, but: You can call poison control and talk to them and they can give you the best information.  Have the box or bottle with you, so you can give them the exact ingredients.

Go see dentist: You should really get to a dentist and get checked out, but could just be bumps on your tongue called papillae that have taste buds all over them. These are normal, but can get hairy projections if you don't keep your tongue clean.  Just brush your tongue and that should help get rid of it.  Still, since you are choking and gagging, you should get into dentist to be checked out.  Take care!
