can i take pepcid (famotidine) for breakthrough relief of gerd, if i take prilosec 20mg twice a day? if so, what's the best time to take it?

Yes and no: I like Pepcid (famotidine) with your PPI for daily use but for occasional (as needed) use, I recommend Pepcid (famotidine) Complete.  It works faster that Pepcid (famotidine) alone thanks to the rapid acting antacid that comes with the Pepcid (famotidine) tablet.

best time to take prilosec ? my doc said at night. but she didn't say the time before or after dinner? n how long you have to wait after you ate?

PPI: best time to take Prilosec is on empty stomach and you should eat or drink something after 15-20 minutes .so if you are taking it at night make sure you are empty stomach for two hour, take your medication and have dinner or something to eat 20 min after that . I usually recommend taking it first thing in morning

What did you doctor advise? Did md advise dropping the dose?

Likely fine...: ... If just done once or twice.  If you're using more of it because your symptoms aren't controlled with the prescribed dose, you should definitely let your doctor know.

can i take carafate (sucralfate) and prilosec at the same time? or should they be taken at different times of the day?

Yes you can: Usually these meeds are taken before  a meal. If you have acid reflux  omeprazoke is better.  But you can take them together.

Not usually: Most people do not have any real issues w/prilosec that relate to mental function, and many take it twice daily.

ok so im on metoprolol 25mg 2x day . i also take prilosec . so my question is how far apart should i spread out famitidine, prilosec and metoprolol? so if i take metoprolol at 530 what times should i take the others ? and how far apart the other ?

: You asked this question before. There is no interaction between these drugs but famotidine is only indicated if your symptoms have not been under control with a maximal dose of omeprazole which is 40 mg, twice a day. Dose of metoprolol should be 12 hours apart and you can take the other 2 at any times you want. If you take each one a day only so you can take one @ breakfast &amp; the other @ dinner.

can i take bentyl , metoprolol and prilosec together ? maybe not at the same time but in the same day? i see that bentyl can have the same affects like metoprolol and i dont want my pressure to get too low?

: There are no significant drug interaction among these drugs. Bentyl is fairly harmless drug and may not be needed unless you have persistent pain in your abdomen.

A one-time thing!: Hi. Mag citrate should be a very rare treat for you! Don't use it regularly. Use it one or two times for bad constipation, but don't use it regularly. For regularity, use fiber laxitives...safe and non-habit forming. And stay well hydrated. Psyllium husk is one of the oldest and best around and works like a well oiled clock! That's the straight poop!   ;-)
