Sure, see a DR: Accutane (isotritoin) causes dry mouth. Sometimes abdominal cramps. Most likely these symptoms are viral or other cause not related to acne treatment.

Most likey: this is an anal fissure or hemorrhoid. Accutane should not do this. It will probably go away. See your doctor if you have chest pain, passing out, difficulty breathing, or other concerning symptoms. Hope this helps!

Accutane: interacts with several drugs, may be the protein supplement you intend to take has an ingredient that interacts with accutane, at any rate you can do without the supplements for sometime and have a good balanced diet, good luck

i have bad neck and back pain but i'm on accutane.  is it worth it for me to see an orthopedic doctor or will they just suggest stopping accutane?

Worth it: In my opinion, it would be worth it.  They can examine you for other potential causes of your back and neck pain and give an opinion whether or not they feel your pain is musculoskeletal.

i am on 80mg of accutane a day in my 4th month and i haven't noticed much improvement and my skin isn't even dry. is this normal in the 4th month?

Are you: Are you taking the medication with food?  I have had patients that did not clear until they finished the medication. You also may have very resistant acne. You may have to take it a second time also. Do you have hormone imbalance?

Accepted Answer

Most within 12 weeks: Acne can flare the first few months on isotretinoin.  Most patients start to see improvement within 12 weeks.  However, there are always a few patients who require a longer amount of time to see improvement.  Your dermatologist will be adjusting your dose as the months progress.

what to do if i just started my 4th month of accutane, shouldn't it have all cleared up by now?

Not necessarily: Depends upon dose but sometimes will continue to work for 6 months after last dose. Old lesions will not be resolved yet, should see a decrease of new lesions.
