Colonization: This can be a problem especially with young people and hormone production.  You may want to try a product called Hibbiclens.  Its a low sudsing soap product that leaves an invisible antibacterial film behind that retards bacterial growth.  This may help..1-2 times a week.

Herpes or cyst: That's a more likely location for herpes than for a fungal rash.  Herpes could start out as a blister in the 'butt crack, ' which would later open and become a shallow ulcer. It might be itchy or it might be slightly painful.  The skin around it would be red.  Another possibility is an pilonidal cyst, which can occur in the same area and can get infected.

Probably benign: "Bump on the buttocks" can have several causes: Pimples (inflamed hair follicle) or Boil (larger,infected,inflamed hair follicle) or insect bite, or STD (herpes). Most times they can resolve on their own within 3-5 days. If the bump persists or gets worse, see a doctor as there may be a skin infection associated with the "bump" which will need to be drained and/or treated with antibiotics.

An antibacterial soap, over the counter acne creams containing benzoyl peroxide will help if it si bacterial. If it is persistent see a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
