Depends on situation: Some folks prefer the bovine protein as more human like & there is some question whether the soy lives up to its quality. That said, most kids would never have any appreciable difference in growth/development either way.The exception comes if a kid is intolerant to one. If so, the other product or a specialty formula like alumentum  would be less likely to cause GI symptoms.

Infant hard stools: are not uncommon. Although it is recommended to avoid supplementary foods until 4-6 months of age, often feeding a half oz of prune juice mixed with equal parts water will provide enough fiber and stimulant to remedy the problem and should not interfere with normal advancement of foods.

See a Specialist: This is a complicated question that cannot be well answered in only 400 characters.  The problems with formula may be allergy or lactose intolerance or several other things.  You should have the baby tested for soy and milk allergy and you may need to try several formulas before you find one that is well tolerated.  Enfamil AR thickens in the stomach so it is less likely to reflux back up the esop

? allergies?: Hard to be sure. S26 appears to be a formula based on cow milk protein that has been broken up to where the babies body does not react to any of the proteins.If other solid foods have been added without problems it may be possible at a year to use a soy/almond or other such milk rather than formula as you expand the kids diet. Please coordinate this with his doc.

: Nursing is best, but there are formulas not containing soy protein. Soy oil is different from soy lecithin. Please check labels and consider a formula without any soy product.

Depends: Formula is not paperclips. There can be minor differences in the ingredients that babies gut may deal with differently.This can result in changes in digestive patterns, cramping,loose stools,constipation etc.while switching back and forth. That said, some kids won't notice any difference and will do well,(or poorly) on one or both. Best find one that works and stick with it.

M.D. visit: I would suggest discussing supplemental formulas and probiotics with your pediatrician. Breast milk is the best formula and enhances gut immunity.

Yes: The aap recommends cow's milk formula as a preferable alternative to breast milk. However, in some babies (those with certain underlying medical problems), soy is either medically necessary or better tolerated. There have been some concerns that "phytoestrogens" (plant-based estrogen-like compunds found in some plants) may contribute to early puberty in children- the jury is still out on that one.

Soy formula: Let&#x27;s start by saying breast is always best. But if this is absolutely not an option and formula a must, soy is perfectly adequate for nutrition. Many babies have difficulty handling cow&#x27;s milk proteins or the lactose present in cow&#x27;s milk. Soy is both lactose free and cow milk protein free. All formulas are supplemented equally with regard to vitamins and minerals. Brand does NOT MATTER.

Normal variation: The main agent adding color to the poo is the material made by the liver called bile. It starts out a dark green and goes thru the yellows to brown depending on the influences of various factors in the intestines. Rapid transit thru the system, as may occur with ore bulk or breast feeding may have a green, yellow or brown appearance.
