Don't take if you have cardiac disease, etc. Don't take with certain other medication such as Alpha blockers (given for high blood pressure and/or prostate problems). Check w/your doctor. There are some side effects as well.

Effective at what?: Sildenafil is generic form of branded Viagra (sildenafil) &amp; Revatio. Former is indicated for use in erectile dysfunction for which it is very useful. Latter is indicated for use in pulmonary hypertension. Of course, inadequate dosing won't be effective but too much isn't good either. Sildenafil is the generic for viagra. However, viagra has not yet gone generic here in the states such that generic sildenafil is not available. Best to discuss this question w/your prescribing doc. Btw don't take w/nitrates.
