i really hope for natural birth. can you tell me what is more painful, labor contractions or when head emerges? could you advise how 2 prepare 4 pain?

Both hurt : Everyone experiences pain differently do it's not possible to say which is worse.

Labor begins!: The process of labor begins slowly and builds up over time. Uterine contractions are initially disorganized and mild are are usually not noticed. As you get closer to the time of delivery, the contractions become better organized and stronger. Try not to worry, the baby will be out very soon!

In reference to what: Need to be specific...Uterine during pregnancy, gall bladder, bowel, bladder, prostate.  Essentially it is what it sounds like when the muscle contract in an organ they can be painful.  Circumstances dictate the severity.

Consult Ob/Gyn: At term, you are getting close to labor when contractions are frequent and painful.  I you are intolerant of the pain, you need more rest, or consideration for delivery.  This is a frustrating condition for patient and doctor.  Continue fetal surveillance until a clear plan for delivery.

painful contractions for 35 hours, should the ob resident be telling us to stay home?

No: When to see the ob/gyn, and or go to labor and delivery.  In my community hospital setting, I have patients contact me or l&d and often get an evaluation.  Mid-trimester discomforts, "round ligament pain", versus pre-term or term labor can usually be sorted out with a brief history, and physical.  However, patients with recurrent painful contractions need to be seen.

Hang in there!: This phase of your pregnancy can be accompanied with bouts of contractions.  this is common.  Make sure you are drinking enough water and staying in touch with your physician.  Active labor could happen any time, but may still be a ways off.  Hang in there!

40 weeks, steady, painful contractions 5-6 mins apart,  2cm dialated &' 60% effaced. passing bloody show. &' still got sent home?  why?

Contractions: Usually you get watched and monitored for a couple of hours and if you are making no changes then you are sent home with precautions, meaning reasons to come back to the hospital.  You weren't making any progress and your baby looked good so your doctor felt it was early labor and you didn't need to be in the hospital yet.  Good luck, babies always come out, they never stay in!

37weekspreg.regular painful contractions for over 24hrs.was sent home from the hospital cervix hadn't changed.now only having random contractions.why?

What did your OB: Say your OB should have explained that sometimes you can have false labor , if it was the real labor the cervix would have changed and they would not have become less frequent , but you could go into labor anytime, so if they get regular again or your water breaks ( even if you are having no contractions) you need to call your ob.
