Neutrophils : Neutrophils are white blood cells that help to fight bacterial infections.  The absolute neutrophil count (anc) is used to assess how many neutrophils a person has.  A count that is too low can put you at risk for bacterial infections.  A high count can indicate that your body is fighting an infection, or can be from an inflammatory injury such as a burn, heart attack or appendicitis.  People who do not have a spleen also can have a higher than normal anc.  It can even be caused by medications (such as steroids) or stress.  Very rarely a high ANC can indicate malignancy such as chronic myelogenous leukemia, but people usually have other signs and symptoms, also.  Because of this very wide range of high ANC causes, the context in which the test was ordered and how high it actually is is very important.  If you are worried about your test result, call the doctor that ordered the test and ask what they were looking for and if your high ANC is a concern.

Usually nothing: The absolute counts of neuts, lymphs and their teammates vary tremendously even from hour to hour. Unless the absolute lymphocyte count drops below 1000, it's not even interesting. At 500 or so, it's a health concern and your physician will let you know what you need to do.

Medical history: Schilling counted the number of segments on each neutrohil. This gave rise to the terms "right shift" and "left shift"; the former is hypersegmented neutrophils in megaloblastic change, the latter a lot of neutrophils without segments in serious bactrial infection or some leukemias. We don't do this any more. We'll simply look at and describe the smear.

Yes & normal: Normal neutrophil count is about 1500-8000.  Being that you are on antibiotic suggests that you have an infection, and a for a person with bacterial infection, the count of 11000 or so is a normal response.

Nothing by itself : Absolute counts are all that matter. If neutrophil and lymphocyte absolute counts are near-normal, and all are well-formed, you're good to go.
