Many: If you are allergic, asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis , and rarely hives may develop. If you have an impaired immune system, you may have invasive fungal disease.
Some may develop allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis (with aspergillus being more common) manifested usually as steroid-resistant asthma.
Others hypersensitivity pneumonitis which when prolonged may cause permanent lung damage.

Interesting question: "mold illness" would be low on my list. Notably, C4a is produced upon activation of the complement system (C4 is cleaved to form C4a) which may occur in active autoimmune IgG disease, infection, malignancy and other problems. Etiology: The etiology of polymyositis is believed to be autoimmune. If mold started a hypersensitivity type of reaction that behaves like myositis is possible even though it will be uncommon. Hope it helps.

Depends: There are hundreds of black molds but only one I know of  with toxic effects. You can be allergic to any such exposure but that is a  transient issue that ends when exposure ends. Formaldehyde/automotive fumes are also simple irritants. Your system may or may not be more sensitive than others. I would neither assume your sickness is related or exclude the possibility. Moving is a good idea

It depends...: It depends on what you mean by "mold illness." molds (a form of fungus), can cause many different diseases with varying symptoms. Some of these can be seen on a chest x-ray, but many will not. In general, the more symptomatic a patient is from a pulmonary standpoint (cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, etc) the more likely any possible pulmonary fungal infection will show up. TEST FOR ILLNESS: No there is no test, if you have symptoms of black mold exposure and envorenmental exam in your house confirms black mold, then you should have black mold cleaned and see if your sumptoms improve, that will suggest that it was due to black mold.
