after i take a dump, i usually see little white squirmy worm things in my poop. what could be causing this?

Parasites are likely: Thread worms, aka "pin worms" are the most likely answer. There are other worm-like parasites but most are pin worms. More common in children less common in adults, most likely in all ages. There are medications to rid your body of these parasites. They cause rectal discomfort and itching, can wake children at night when pin worms are most active. Stool samples confirm diagnosis.

19 week old breastfed. has been pooping 2x a day since friday. used to be only once every 3 days. can this be a new normal thing? no fevers

Accepted Answer

Normal variant: Most breastfed newborns poop after each feeding, the timing varies. This changes with growth and becomes less frequent. Biggest variant is in what mom is eating that can affect the baby's gut. Has your diet changed? If your baby is nursing well, pooping 2 x per day, sleeping well, has no fever, then I wouldn't be concerned.

my 5yr old don't know when she pees or poops sometimes she says she can't feel it she has hyper mobile joints could they be caused by same thing?

If your child has : (1) never been able to control her bowels & bladder for 6 mos., (2)low muscle tone in her legs &  (3) ⬇ed sensation in her lower body parts, an uncommon possible cause for all 3 is caudal regression syndrome, congenital malformations of the lower spinal cord, vertebrae & sacrum (the triangular pelvic bone of five fused vertebrae). Probably because he: Ingested something long & green that couldn't be absorbed, either a food or a non-food item.

is there really such a thing as the "perfect" shaped poop? my poop shape changes daily so is there something wrong with me?

Accepted Answer

No: There is considerable variation in the amount, consistency and shape of the stools in normal people.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i poop fine first thing in morning then 5 minutes later have diarhhea and then poop small amounts throughout the day , i never feel empty , lots of gas?

Many causes: This could be irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, gluten sensitivity, other food or medication sensitivities, part of another systemic disease.  It would be best to talk with your doctor to help work through all the possibilities

: Did you use a stethoscope to listen for intestinal activity?  If not, it's not unusual not to have audible normal intestinal peristaltic sounds.

my baby is 4 months old and strictly breastfed. why was there a long, green, mucusy, stringy thing in her poop?

Stool varies: Stool color, consistency etc. Varies with diet, hydration, viruses, etc.  Granted the baby's diet hasn't changed, but sometimes the poop is effected by what mom eats.  Sometimes it's a virus that turns stool green.  The most important thing is that the baby continues to nurse/drink/void/stool well, and is acting normal.  If everything else is fine, don't worry about a little green poop.

pooped 1 big red thing came out with white stuff  been having blood in poop and increased my pills  thing was sort of hard. is this big dry blood?

UC is out of control: Ulcerative colitis is a lifelong disease that when flaring can have serious medical consequences.  You did not share with us the extent of your disease nor what medication course you're taking. Nevertheless, the fact that you are passing blood with altered stooling requires urgent evaluation by your treating gastroenterologist.  Call him asap please.

my baby is 14 months old n for the past 4 to 5days has been throwing every thing up n pooping anything n every thing out. i thought it was jus a lil bug did some research n figured ok he was gonna be fine. he was fine for like a day but then a repeat?
