Stick to instruct: It's best to stick to the instructions with the z-pack.  The dosing and timing is meant to allow a fairly constant, and set, amount of antibiotics to be maintained in your system.  This set dosing allows for maximum effectiveness against the bacterial infection.  If you take the z-pack pill a few hours before or after the 24 hour mark, this isn't a big deal.  But stay within 4-6 hours of the mark.

can i split z-pack dose? the last time i took 2 pills at the same time it made me sick to my stomach. i asked the pharmacist and he said i could.

Split dose: I would suggest that on day 1 when 2 pills are used taking 1 pill in the morning after a full breakfast and 1 pill after dinner on a full stomach. Avoid alcohol and citrus juices.

i know the treatment is 1g of azythromycin but i was prescribed the z pack can i just take 4 pills as a single dosage or do i have to do the 6days?

Follow directions!: Follow your prescribing doctor's directions; they are designed to treat your infection in the best way possible, and there are many. Failure to follow directions may result in failure of treatment, resistant bacteria, and more problems (and cost). Don't decide on this yourself. If any doubt, ask your doctor!

chronic cough 8 days, lots clear chest phlegm in morning. no fever. dr rxd z pack; bromfed. i was hesitant to take since i read this goes away usually on its own but today is 8 day so took two pills. should that be ok? thinking its cold or bronchiti

Maybe bronchitis: It is not uncommon to contract a viral illness then have respiratory inflammation that causes bronchitis.  These are usually not bacterial infections.  However, if your symptoms are not improving and you have risk factors like smoking history or copd then you have a higher risk of bacterial infections.  If you started your antibiotic (zpak) then complete the course.  If you not improving see doc.

my dr gave me z-pack but i'm not sure why. he didn't say i had strep just flu symptoms. i left him a message but received no reply. i have 3 of 6 pills to take. if i don't hear from my dr do i finish the last 3 pills?

ABSOLUTELY!: Even if you didn't test positive for strep yet, this does not mean you don't have the precursor, or the potential to having a sinus infection.  Please make sure you take all of the pills to make sure the infection goes away and stays away.

Headache/chest pain: Headache and chest pains according to the zithromax package is a reason to stop it and call your doctor. Please do so.

i woke up with a uti and in a panic took one pill from my husbands z pack.  now if i need cipro (ciprofloxacin) can i not take it today?  i'm on vacation in mexico

No, it: won't affect the efficacy of another antibiotic.  You can take additional antibiotics if indicated. But please don't rely on self diagnosis and self medication.  If you can get to a health care provider, get evaluated and receive proper treatment.
