Relax: Your baby is floating in a protected environment. This includes the several layers of fetal membranes and fluid.Nothing can reach baby unless it comes through your blood. No irritation on your skin surface, or the creams you may use to treat it would effect your baby.

See deramtologist: Poison ivy products could be barrier cream or weak antiinflammatory cream. It is impossible to tell what rash is from description and it is time after trial with otc products to seek prescription strength cream after proper diagnosis.

Don't!: The blisters are your body's reaction and they don't contain any poison or toxin. Bursting them will simply increase the risk of infection and probably cause more pain.

Not a good idea: In sensitive persons, even the smoke from burning poison ivy can carry the plant oils and lead to allergic contact dermatitis of the skin.  I hate to think what that could do to your lungs. Not a good idea to experiment with this.

Poison ivy: No shot available for prevention but early oral steroids given as a tapered dose for 10 days or more can help. (dex pak).

Not really a "cure": Technically there really isn't a "cure".  Most every patient will recover without doing anything.  However, treatment certainly makes one feel a heck of a lot better in the process.  Poison ivy and oak and sumac are all allergic reactions to the resin on the plants.  If you are allergic (and many people are or will be) then you will have a reaction every time you have contact with the plant.

Steroids (cortisone): Poison ivy or poison oak rashes are allergic reactions caused by contact with the plants. The plant sap can be on clothes, bedding, car seats, etc..., so thorough cleaning is needed. Treatment  is with steroid creams in mild cases but oral steroids in moderate or severe cases. Oral antihistamines like Claritin, Zyrtec, or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) help decrease itching. A doctor can prescribe steroids if needed.
