should i use plan b? i was on a 3 day course of bactrim and had sex and the condom broke. i am on ortho tri cyclen lo for 7 years.  i am concerned that the bactrim may have effected my bc pill. should i take  plan b?

Plan B: If the condom was unreliable and broke, would take plan B as precaution, especially with Bactrim use during the time frame.

Irregular Periods: Taking birth control pills out of sequence in addition to additional tablets could cause your periods to be irregular , you may want to see a gynecologist.

No: No, it just added to the amount of progesterone in your system. It may cause some irregular spotting but in terms of pregnancy prevention, you should be fine.

See below: Nothing is 100% certain, but if you take your bc pills regularly, pregnancy is unlikely. If you have concerns about taking pills on time every day, you may consider an IUD. 
Practice safe sex.

Don't be nervous!: Plan B pills contain a high dose of the active ingredient Levonorgestrel, which is a second generation progestin.  Progestins, just like natural Progesterone cause the uterine endometrium to slough thus causing a period.  It works mainly by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary.
It is possible that it may also work by preventing fertilization of an egg and its attachment to the uterus.

The loose stools: which occured 6 hours after ingesting Plan B should not have  a significant impact on absorbing the medication. Both your oral contraceptive and your emergency contraceptives should be fine.

Birth Control: has nothing to do with the Plan b.  Good for you for getting on birth control.  Sometimes you don't have periods on birth control pills.  Talk to your doctor about your pill.  It may be responsible for you to just skip the placebos and stay on the pill so you don't worry all the time or get on one like seasonal that you don't have periods, but talk to your doc first, probably could do by phone.

It happens: It is not weird to miss a period when on birth control especially if you took Plan B on top of it. There is no need to take Plan B while on birth control. Continue your birth control as you are supposed to. If you pregnancy test is negative two weeks after unprotected sex you are safe.

Low chance: If you have been on BC consistently for four years and the above happened, it would be a low probability to get pregnant. If you are very worried, you can do a pregnancy test in a few weeks.
