Dirt & Oil: Our pores get filled with dirt & oil daily. Our skin naturally produces oils to help protect it.  When bacteria are involved it causes acne (pimples), which can lead to pus. Try to avoid squeezing your skin, it can cause redness & inflammation.

Impetigo: This is likely to be a bacterial skin infection. Please see your doctor who can take swabs from these spots and send them to the lab for analysis. If necessary, he may prescribe antibiotics as well.

Yes: Ringworm on the face is known as the "great masquerader" so yes it can cause bumps, round scaly patches, pustules and more.  Tinea faciale (ring worm) often itches or burns but can be asymptomatic.  Consider visiting with a dermatologist to make sure it is not something else that will not respond to anti fungal therapy.

Skin changes: Enlarged pores of the skin, particularly of the face can be the result of dirt, debris or oils of the skin.  These can clog or block the pores, which should naturally be open, to help protect the skin and keep it hydrated.  Daily washing of the face, avoiding strong soaps, can keep the skin healthy and clean with lessening of clogged pores.  If no improvement, seek a Dermatologist for further help

: Everybody has pores on the face but some have enlarged bores. There are 3 major clinical causes of enlarged facial pores, namely high sebum excretion, decreased elasticity around pores, and increased hair follicle volume. In addition, chronic recurrent acne, sex hormones, and skin care regimen can affect pore size.

is it ok to continue my weekly facial steaming after i've had cortisteroid injections for keloids injected into my face?? since steaming opens pores, will it cause the injection to be less effective??

: Keloids are mature scar tissue, and steroids may not arrest the growth or decrease existing size of your keloids.  Plastic surgery may remove the keloids, but reformation of a scar may also occur.  Steam treatments will not affect the injected steroids.

Laser resurfacing: The laser procedure causes injury to the skin and as things heal, some of the pores may clog due to inflammation in the hair follicles and oil glands and cause an increase in acne lesions. It should be a temporary thing and ultimately, things should be better.
