Depends: There is not a lot that you can do if this is happening in the next day or so.  You can consider contacting a gynecologist if you have one..to place you on hormones but I do not highly recommend this. Look into getting a menstrual cup in the pharmacy.  It can be worn to catch the blood...instead of a tampon.  It can be left in place during intercourse.

Long "period": With bleeding for "15 days" , and unprotected sex (trying to conceive) it is possible for an ectopic pregnancy to occur. Get a serum HCG asap, b/c an ectopic (tubal pregnancy) needs immediate attention to remove it.  Once the bleeding cause is identified, ovulation induction can be initiated with clomid or other methods.

Try these: Nsaid’s, ssri’s, hormone meds, otc meds containing diuretics, warm bath, heating pad, exercise ; acupuncture are excellent for pms / period. Avoid caffeine, chocolate, alcohol ; salt. Get gyn eval to r/o underlying pathology. Consider omega- 3 fatty acids, magnesium (supplementation or through diet) or black cohosh with dr ok. Sipping chamomile ; green tea can dissipate pain. Ginger helps w nausea.

10 days period: you should see your gynecologist as bleeding for more than 7 days is abnormal. its not good for your health to loose that amount of blood as it might lead to anemia and fatigue

Many options: There are many options to prevent menstrual cycles. Progesterone IUDs and  Depoprovera are commonly used.  Nuvaring and birth control pills can be prescribed in ways to prevent periods too. Any Obgyn can help you with this issue
