Metastatic melanoma: Squamous and basal cell skin cancers are almost always cured by excision. These make up the large majority of Florida skin cancers .There are malignant melanomas that went unnoticed for too long and have spread / metastasized often benefit from chemotherapy, especially a remarkable new agent.

why would melanoma require chemo? i thought you just cut it out? how much do tanning beds increase skin cancer possibilities?

Melanoma: If melanoma is found early, while it is still small and thin, and if it is completely removed by surgery, then the chance of cure is high. The likelihood that the melanoma will come back or spread depends on how deeply it has gone into the layers of the skin. For melanomas that come back or spread, treatments include chemo- and immunotherapy, or radiation. Tanning beds increase risk by an est 75%

: Cancer usually grows slowly over time. 28yo’s are less likely to get cancer overall.

Highly UNLIKELY: but if you are concerned about skin cancer a yearly skin lesion review with your PCP is suggested . This would be a part of a regular visit. hope this is helpful!

my mum biopsy revealed squamous cell carcinoma grade 2 (in her mouth). i know it's a type of skin cancer but will it spread?

Needs to be staged. : The grade is an assessment of the degree of differentiation of the cell line based on its  appearqnce and is used as an estimation of the aggressiveness. Grade 2 is typically worse than grade 1 but not as bad as grade 3.  This does not necessarily mean that it has or will spread. Complete excision +/-radiation along with staging (local spread to adjoining structures or lymph nodes) is advised.

Yes: They are epithelial (skin) cancers.

: Why are getting cuts in the same area? There are more immediate risks like infection than the remote risk of cancer, If you need to deal with sharp objects, get cut resistant gloves.

Different types.: There are several different types of skin cancers. Squamous cell the skin begins as a small nodule and as it enlarges the center becomes necrotic and sloughs and the nodule turns into an ulcer. Basal cell patients present with a shiny, pearly nodule. Melanoma patients have an irregularly appearing pigmented lesion.
