This is unusual: Leah, you really need to see a clinician both to get relief from the symptoms and find the cause.  You can take over the counter antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for the itching, but the soreness is strange and could mean it is something more than just an allergy.  Good luck!

Many possible causes: Many conditions can cause easy bruising in adults. A doctor's evaluation will help figure out the problem. Possible causes include:  low platelets due to auto-immune destruction of platelets or due to problems making new platelets, blood cancers such as leukemia, clotting problems due to medications like aspirin, fragile capillary blood vessels, etc...  Treatments are usually available.

Rule out illness: When infants/toddlers have bruises in 
unsuspecting areas, blood tests are done to 
rule out ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenia  purpura).
This is an autoimmune disorder, self-limited and 
lower platelet counts occur with the bruises. It should be monitored since if the Platelets drop below 10,000 they often need admission to a hospital or treated as an outpatient. You should follow up on the tests.

Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Other things: There are other possibilities than the ones you mention.  Make sure you tell you pcp.  They may do other blood tests to check you out.
