i have a cyst like thing on the side of my vulva lips/ what should i do?

See your gyn: Masses or lumps on the labia can be caused by many things:  infected sweat glands, infected hair follicles, blocked oil glands, blocked Bartholin's glands.  If you are having pain, you need to be checked out by your doctor.  Most of these problems can be taken care of without much difficulty, but you should be seen to establish a diagnosis.

is the vulva supposed to be moist all the time? i see what looks like wetness there but my lips always stick together and t-paper always sticks.

Mucous moisture: The vagina provides a mucous moisture physiologically. (normal). It provides protection for the vagina and vulva, as well as lubrication for sexual activity. If you are still concerned see a GYN MD who can examine you for infections or other abnormalities.

4yrs ago i operated a painful bump on the vulva. since then it appears every summer on both lips, always removed with surgery. what can it be?

Path report: Since you have had surgery on this spot before the best thing to do it is to ask for a copy of the pathology report. The diagnosis will be listed. If there is no pathology report then ask the surgeon what the diagnosis was. This is the most accurate way to determine the cause.

during a vaginal swabbing, is it typical for the q-tip to be circulated on each side of the vulva (within the lips)?

Accepted Answer

Possible: There is no definitive method for swabbing, and depending on what one is attempting to test for, may call for a more in depth specimen, thus the need for more "swabbing."  For example, there may be more discharge or vaginal secretions, and the provider may want to get a better yield by swabbing more areas, etc.  As far as a PAP smear, the specimen is obtained from the cervix often in 360 degrees.

i just had an i&d done to my vulva cyst4 days ago. its closing up, but the entire lip is 3xs the size of the healthy vulvar and it has a lump/knot below the incision. is this.normal?

I&amp;D vulval cyst: The post I&amp;D swelling is a usual outcome, but you need to see the surgeon who did the I&amp;D, because if the drained cyst has closed even partially, the original bacterial infection can re-form, and may need further drainage to heal properly. The "lump/knot" below the incision is part of the acute inflammatory component.

If you have a cut: Anything that would rub or irritate the cut can make it worse or slow the healing.

: You are brobably irritating a hair follicle. Try trimming insetad if shaving in the area.

Not normal: You would have to be examined in person to give any sort of answer about what might be going on.

Accepted Answer

Vaginal discharge: Unless a vaginal discharge has an odor or itches, it most often is normal in its' presence. Seeing a GYN MD can confirm or not the presence or absence of an infection.
