It could be..serious: Actual eye, medically speaking, is an urgent problem. It may be a small foreign object, an ingrown or loose eyelash/hair, a scratched cornea or corneal abrasion. Intermittent pain is a bit more unusual; close angle glaucoma is an emergency problem, a problem with the retina, like retinal detachment often causes visual changes, but may not depending on location. What kind?: Is it a rx or otc spray?  Is it a nasal steroid or antihistamine?  Rarely, steroid nasal spray may lead to glaucoma which is genetically determined. Need to stop the nasal spray and find an alternative but it is only prudent to consult an eye doctor since glucoma can lead to blindness.

Likely benign: But might see your eye specialist, as there may be a minor corneal or lens irregularity, which can be reversed.
