i have visible blue veins in abdomen and spider veins. i have gained some weight recently but i'm not pregnant. what can cause this?

Two things: The first possible reason is liver dysfunction which will cause protrusion of the abdomen from ascites(intra-abdominal fluid) and spider veins. The second is weight gain from fat that has to be "nourished" by adding additional surface veins. Contact a MD and make sure that your liver is normal with a blood liver enzyme test and exam.

my veins have become more visible.chest, lower abdomen, arms, legs(none bulge) - is this normal because i'm really pale? or a result of bcp and stress?

Prominent veins: Prominent veins are normal in light colored/pale people. Veins can be hormone sensitive and bulge and cause pain during your cycle. Unless they become &gt;2-3mm and painful i would ignore them.

what causes very visible veins on boobs , nipple, shoulders and pelvic belly area ? what could be the causes ? thanks

Normal finding: I am amazed about how often I have women ask me about the veins on their breast.  Occasionally they are spider veins but mostly they are blue veins.  These are almost always normal findings and normal variations of chest veins.  They tend to be more pronounced in fair skinned females and they may be related to hereditary factors or even pregnancies.  No treatment is necessary unless for cosmetics.

boobs are fuller i got veins in my breasts and areolas more visible. nauseated and tightness in belly. but i have a period.what could this be?

Period with symptoms: Could be premenstrual syndrome. Alternatively people do have on rare occasion a period, especially first trimester. Would check blood HCG and if symptoms progress after period resolves consider  sonogram. Also check thyroid.

i have a big vein in my lower left abdomen. why only one side?

Seek help: The isolated vein may be collateral venous drainage, especially if you have had previous blood clot in the left leg, involving the major portion called the iliac vein.  The blockage of blood return through the iliac vein resulted in the body opening other channels for blood return.  If you have not had a prior blood clot, it may not be significant .  Seek help from your doctor.

caucasin baby. noticed veins on her abdomen. not sure if they were there before on not. 7 months tomorrow. scared it is something bad. is it normal?

Prob normal variant: Infants in later months, start developing pot belly, which can make veins to show. If still concerned, pl call your child's doctor for an assessment.

Be seen: Chances are if you are thin it just means you have noticed them. If you are overweight or a heavy drinker or other conditions you should be checked.

can a blockage in the long saphenous vein cause cramps in the abdomen?

No relation.: Problems with the long saphenous vein should not have any relation to abdominal cramps. Look for another reason for the abdominal cramps.

having pain on lower right side of abdomen. i have enlarged veins in testicles (hydroceles i believe). would this cause pain in that area, is it a concern?

Accepted Answer

Wrong label : Having dilated veins around your testis is called varicoceles, not hydroceles which is a totally different issue. Varicoceles are usually on the left side but may be on both. Some are symptomatic with an achy pain some not. Hydroceles might also give rise to discomfort. I would consult a urologist to sort out your issue &amp; discuss therapeutic options.

on the right, front side of abdomen close to ribs, i feel popping sensation for months. when i lean or turn to that side i feel it. while i inhale and exhale. sometimes i can press the area & pop. also feel what feels like large vein in that area?

: It seems you feel your floating rib(s). There is no big vein in that area.
