Lamisil: is an excellent anti-fungal antibiotic. I agree that a fungal culture will identify the offending fungus; however, it will not cure the infection. The redness may be due to either a second infection which is non fungal or a reaction to the Lamisil. Please consult treating podiatrist and figure on 2-4 weeks of therapy, depending on the severity of your case.

: There are many topical and oral medications for nail Fungus. It is a difficult problem to cure . Laser treatments have had some success. I have had some patients use Vicks vapor rub once a day before bed. I suggest you see a Podiatrist. You also need to disinfect your shoes. We recommend Lysol spray in the shoes and let them dry for 2 days. New shoes need to be sprayed also

Microscopic mushroom: I know of quite a few. They all begin with a thorough evaluation to determine that, in fact, it is a fungal infection and not something else. Based on the evaluation, treatments can be offered and explained. These could include medication, surgery and laser, just to name a few.

There are 2 prescription medications on the market, Lamisil (terbinafine) and sporonox.  They can take their toll on the liver, discus this with your doctor.
