Depends on diet: Depending on what you ate, there may be "flakes" seen in your poop. If the flakes persist, despite what you eat, seek medical attention and have a GI dr. Evaluate your digestive system.  Best wishes.

Yes: The human body was designed to allow it to excrete wastes, either through urine or feces.  Holding it may not initially cause you problems, but over time intestinal issues may develop.

Can be normal.: If this has been your pattern for a long time and it is not changed, and if you feel fine, without abdominal pain or other signs or symptoms, it is fine. You don't need any tests done. You should have a colonoscopy done at age 50, or sooner if you have any family history of colon problems. Good luck.

Bowel Movements: There is a routine pattern for most of us.  The biggest issue is are you regular? Meaning, are your bowel movements on a schedule normal for you? Do you have irregularity? If so then it is time to get some help from your physician.

Sx: Sometimes floating stool can be related to steatorrhea. If you continue to have a change in bowel habitus that would merit medical evaluation.

Yes: Resisting to poop can lead to hard and difficult to pass stool. The more you resist, the larger and harder the stool can become. You could eventually get a small tear in the rectum from straining to pass the stool. Its best not to resist the urge to go.

when i poop it bleeds and hurts bad. is there anything otc to take for this?

Possibilities...: Consider anal fissure, internal hemorrhoid(s), proctitis (inflamed rectum), anal abscess or fistula, juvenile retention polyp, trauma to the anal canal, skin changes around the anus (benign or malignant). The only way to find out, and to start appropriate treatment, is to get examined. See your doctor please. Blood is a warning sign here.
