i had a sleep study last night with cpap and have been experiencing heart palpitations most of the day.  can initial cpap cause vagus nerve irritation?

Typically no: That does not usually happen.  It can trigger changes in your level of carbon dioxide since with apnea you tend to retain more and CPAP will force you to blow that out.  If this is persistent go get an EKG.  Heart arrhythmia is common in apnea including heart block, PVCs and atrial fibrillation.  Some can be dangerous.

if a person had sleep apnea could it cause them to have palpitations such as premature atrial contractions during the day? how does sleep apnea cause palpitations, stress on the heart? vagus nerve:nervous system? thanks?

: The heart requires a continuous oxygen and glucose supply to function. Sleep apnea, if severe, depletes the blood level of oxygen
 traveling around the body. As an organ quite sensitive to oxygen deprivation the decline could develop rhythm changes at the time. I don't see it triggering any rhythm changes at other times when O2 level is normal.

Pinched nerve: Pain can alter heart rate, heart frequency and heart function.   With a high heart rate is is important that you can be evaluated by your cardiologist to assure that there is no underlying cardiac problem.

No not directly: But increased physical or emotional stress (e.g. Pain) can bring them out.

Nondiagnostic: These multiple symptoms are nondiagnostic but may be due to release of hormones by tumors such as carcinoid,pheochromocytoma or conditions like hyperthyroidism or even anxiety. Your physician would take a detailed history,perform a thorough physical examination and order appropriate tests in order to make a diagnosis. If needed, a referral to a specialist will be made.

hi, female,31 occasionally, if i get too worked up during masturbation, ill have heart palpitations, 1-2 times,  is this normal? afterwards its not there at all, its not every time just sometimes. i wonder if maybe i forget to breath. thanks 205lbs

See a DR: Heart palpitations at any time are worth seeing a DR for. There are a variety of tests that can rule out heart problems esp arrythmias. These include a baseline EKG, holter monitor, and blood tests.

No: Haven't heard of onion palpitations. Green onions and yellow onions aren't spicy enough to create the excitement that might lead to sensations of palpitations. Eating cooked onions should be fine, just like eating other cooked vegetables. Theoretically, getting hit in the heart by a big yellow onion flying at high speed can cause a problem, similar getting hit by a baseball, so don't throw onions.
