Some people will try an over-the-counter remedy like Monistat and if that does not work then they will see their doctor. Regarding heavy periods, I would definitely recommend an exam and then maybe consider using birth control pills to lighten the period

Yeast infections: Yeast infections will not affect the timing of the menstrual cycle. Over the counter yeast creams are available to solve the problem. If you are late of your menstrual cycle then first thing to do is to check a home pregnancy test.

Which tablets?: Pills for fungus---terbinafine-----are not effective for yeast. Usual yeast pill, fluconazole, is a single dose, sometimes repeated in a week. Yeast is certainly not the only cause of vaginal itch. Fungus is usually not that itchy. So see a GYN or dermatologist. You need to provide precise information about symptoms and about all pills or treatments.

Use antibacterial: two causes of itching is monilial infection which is helped by monista cream
other common cause is bacterial infection
take metronidazole cream for 5 days to get rid of it

Vaginal itch: It could be something as simple as a new soap, detergent or fabric softener or feminine hygiene product.   If no discharge - i would see if there is any new products you are using - anything that may have come in contact down there could cause itching.   If its external - Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream might help - if internal - a simple vinegar and water douche might help.
