Eczema: Eczema skin distribution is different in adult and children. In children, eczematous lesions usually locate around the join, wrist, ankle and trunk area where as in adult it is often at the hand and feet. However, it can be found anywhere in the body but not in the mucous membrane area like inside the vagina. If the mucus membrane is involved, a different diagnosis is needed to be identified.

What is the cause?: The cure would be to find out what has caused the problem in the first place. Allergy to a product you're using, such as soap, vagisil, moisturizer, or medicated wipes? Allergy to a fragrance in your laundry soap or fabric softener, menstrual pads? Stop everything except plain petrolatum or crisco shortening to soothe the irritation. No fabric softener sheets in the dryer. See a dermatologist.

Discuss with your MD: I think you are confused.Because your dad had eczema and you were given a cream by some one for your vagina, you think is used for eczema.We can not tell you what to do withour knowing your symptoms and what was the result of examination by the doctors and what cream and for what diagnosis was prescribed for you

No: Do not use any medication (whether prescribed or over the counter)  in the vagina unless it is specifically stated that it is for that purpose. Please check with your health care provider for the right treatment.

i noticed some itching in my vagina area. once i investigated further, i noticed a patch of skin under my vaginal opening that looks similar to an eczema patch. there is no discharge other than normal vaginal cleansing discharge and no smell either?

: Tentatively, use warm sitz bath 2-3 times a day for a couple days and observe the symptoms. Avoid sex if possible in the mean time. If new symptoms, such as abnormal discharge, dysuria or the lesion expands, you should see a GYN by then.

It depends: There are many skin diseases that may mimic eczema in the vagina area.  This is why your dr. May be suggesting that you have a skin biopsy.

: Best to use it after cleaning area after sex. It is safe.

Steroid ointment: For relief now, consider the highest dose hydrocortisone ointment available in the drug store, twice a day to the affected area for 2 weeks. But since it is on the vagina, I would caution you to see a Gynecologist and make sure that's all it is! Hope that helps.

Need steroid: Go in, u need a high potency steroid, like clobetasol cream, perhaps with an antifungal cream.  God luck, try Hydrocortisone mixed w/ lotrimin (clotrimazole) in the meantime.

?infection: Seek gynecological attention. You could have an infection requiring treatment, and if you are sexually active, an std would also be important to have ruled out. Good luck.
