Vaginal burning: Vaginal infections can be more symptomatic around your period because of pH and hormone changes.  See your gyn to rule out infection.  Birth control pills would not cause burning.

Unusual: Probably nothing to worry about. Sometimes it be be irritation of the urethra from the bleeding during your period. There is always the possibility of endometriosis around the bladder or even interstitial cystitis (bladder inflammation). If you have no other symptoms (painful periods, painful sex, etc) then you can probably ignore it. But if you have other symptoms it might be better to evaluate.

Friction/allergy: This sound like a friction burn to the area from the pad or an allergic reaction to any adhesive on the pad.  Consider tampons, changing brands, explore other alternatives.  See gyn or dermatologist if this continues or can be resolved.

Is this a pattern: if heavy periods are becoming an issue many possibilities include fibroids vs increased estrogen secondary to being over weight or other syndromes like PCOS, endometriosis or cervical or endometrial polyps. This is best determined with an exam to find the cause

Breast pain: You may have premenstrual syndrome manifesting this way. Try to reduce caffeine intake, try vitamins e supplement. Birth control pills may make it worse, but they make it better - depends.
