Vagina: The smell of your vagina can be related to the ph within the vagina.  Many factors may cause changes within the vagina including infections, menstrual periods, pregnancy, and diet.

Could be normal: Start with a daily bath, wash the area with soap and water.  Wear cotton underwear to let the area breathe.  If symptoms remain troublesome please see your pediatrician or gynecologist.

Old blood: Brown discharge after a period is just old blood that has been sitting at the back of the vagina. Once blood degrades it turns brown and then black. The vaginal odor will need to be evaluated by examination.

Infection: Sometimes, this may be normal (e.g. residual menstrual flow, moisture retention issues, etc...).  However, if the symptom is persistent and associated with itching, soreness, redness and yellowish/greenish discharge; infection should be ruled out.

Bacterial vaginosis?: The most frequent cause of strong  vaginal odor is bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria. BV odor typically is fishy, as you have noticed, and sometimes there is increased discharge. Trichomonas and other STDs are more common in BV, so have an STD check. This should be easy to diagnose and treat; see your doctor soon. Good luck!

: Odor is too subjective to give an answer that everyone would agree on. If you are having no symptoms (itching, irritation, abnormal discharge), then whatever it smells like almost certainly is normal. You're obviously very attentive to your vaginal health, which is good. But don't be obsessive about it. If you remain concerned, see a gynecologist for what probably will be a reassuring evaluation.
