Bladder symptoms: Probably not urethritis; symptoms of this sort orginate higher in the urinary tract, usually in the bladder. Prostatitis might be possible. Other possibilities include overactive bladder and a condition called interstial cystitis. Certain drugs can cause such symptoms. Keep working with your doctor. Consider asking for referral to a urologist.

Bleeding:  Brown discharge is usually old blood being cleaned from the uterus. This doesn&#x27;t mean that she had a miscarriage.  Did she take a home pregnancy test when she thought she missed her period?

No: UTI's do not cause vaginal discharges.  But sometimes a vaginal infection can mimic a UTI.  Please see your gynecologist.

Probably Unrelated: During periods, we shed the inner lining of the uterus -- the endometrium -- if we're not  pregnant.  Sometimes that shed layer may not come out for a day or two & can turn brown.  So can be normal; why it changed, i can't say.  If you are having low pelvic pain, the discharge is unusually foul smelling, or your have a fever, though, it could be an infection -- then see an ob/gyn!  good luck!

Should be examined: If you or someone is are pregnant and notices these symptoms, you should see your doctor. A urinary tract infection is possible, but other causes are possible as well. This would need to be sorted out at your doctor visit, exam and testing.

Your : Your symptoms could be any one of a number of things including a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, trichamonas, or some other infection such as chlamydia or gonorrhea.  Most of these are treated with a different antibiotic than what we use for urinary tract infections.  You need a complete gyne exam with cultures and examination of your vaginal fluid. By doing all of this, hopefully your doctor will figure out what is causing your symptoms and be able to treat you appropriately. Good luck!

3 yr old saying it hurts when she urinates.  has mucousy discharge.  uti or yeast?  how do they test for those?

Could be either: She could have one of the two things or both.  Only way to know for she is to allow your provider to inspect the area and collect a urine for urinalysis and culture.
