had sex without condom on monday i am on birth control pills take them perfectly . was prescribed antibiotics for uti today(wednesday) is it safe to take them or is there a risk of pregnancy from monday with the antibiotics and birth control pills?

BCP ?'s: Although there are specific antibiotics which can diminish the effectiveness of oral bcp's, if there is no withdrawal bleeding during the active pill series, it is unlikely that protection from pregnancy will be affected.  Competitive absorption of oral bcp's from antibiotics would possibly diminish the active pills presence in the blood stream, so no withdrawal bleeding indicates effectiveness.

Very unlikely: This is a theoretical concern for some antibiotics, but almost never happens. Don't worry about it.

Probably not: Interference of antibiotics with hormonal contraception is very rare, almost an urban myth. People worry about it a lot more than necessary. But to be 100% safe, ask the doctor who prescribed the antibiotic or your birth control (or both).

No worries: The current thinking is that except for rifampin, other commonly-used antibiotics do not alter the effectiveness of birth control pills. This is likely presuming a person is not sick with vomiting or bad diarrhea, or some other condition that decreases the absorption of a swallowed pill. Doubtful : It is theoretically possible but with the plan b pill most unlikely.  Always use a backup method if taking antibiotics if taking BCP. Wait until your period is due , If you miss it then use a pregnancy test.  If you are reluctant to wait call your gynecologist.

Nausea: Your nausea may be due to your birth control but you should see a neurologist to rule out migraines.

Very unlikely: The antibiotics are not a probable cause for prolonging your reaction to bcps (if that is what it is). If the nausea was due to the bcps it will probably disappear in a month or so.  If, however, you are having thoughts of suicide you need to go asap to a psychiatrist and have this assessed before you do something which will be regretted. Go now. Do not wait. Best wishes.

i've recently had a uti and went on antibiotics for three days, then i started taking cranberry pills 6 days ago. i've noticed my urine is bright yellow. i am also on birth control pills. whats wrong?

Nothin's wrong: That's ok. Finish the antibiotics as prescribed. Get checked again if symptoms persist or come back.
