Mgt: I would suggest that they ask their pediatrician for the results of her newborn screening tests. The tests screen for a number of conditions. There may be several causes and among these include hepatitis, alpha one antitrypsin deficiency, hypothyroidism.

Odor and Infection: A change in odor of the vagina could be related to many things. However, if you are concerned as it seems you are get it checked by you doctor. Sometimes douches can cause a change in vaginal odor.  Sometimes a change in smell is related to an infection that is not associated with a fishy smell.

Fertility ?'s: The pain and unpleasant odor (urine) may need treatment, but the primary cause of infertility with regular menses is blocked Fallopian tubes. Ask your gyn physician about a hysterosalpinogram (HSG) a simple test which can determine if tubes are open. Obtain a urine culture and treatment if necessary prior to the HSG.
