had my ureter stent taken out today. i am in severe pain. i have had stents before but after they come out i am normally fine. what can i do to help?

Back pain: It is not uncommon to have back pain after stent removal. Take the pain meds as prescribed. Contact your doctor if the pain persists or if fever develops.

For most of cases, stent removal is quite easy, but occasionally severe encrustation at the ends of stent may make its removal very difficult resulting in requiring additional procedures. : It depends on many things.  Reason for stent, how long in, and your ureter's reaction to it. I would suggest it will clear up in a few days if you drink plenty of fluids. If it does not let your Urologist know

Stents: Unfortunately ureteral stents cause quite a bit of bladder irritation. You can get over-the-counter urinary tract analgesics or have your urologist prescribed a prescription strength urinary analgesic.

Hematuria: Why do you have a urinary catheter? I recommend going to the ER if it did not already resolve.

Not likely : The stents themselves can be very uncomfortable so unless you need to have the stent to keep the ureter open I doubt it would help with chronic pain. Try a chiropractor, trigger point injections and/or acupuncture.

what does oxybutynin do? have a ureter stent. does that help me not to pee every fine?  they gave me that and pain meds.

Relax bladder: This classic medication decreases contractility of smooth muscle and therefore decreases bladder contractility and bladder spasms. If you have a stent in place after perhaps a ureteral stone procedure, Oxybutynin can make you more comfortable while your healing process continues.  You will be well soon.

Doc is right...: All what you have experienced as described after ureteral stent is commonly expected but could be eased with using medications like pyridium, alpha-blocker, and anticholinergics, but not routinely prescribed. So, if unbearable, see &amp; ask doc for help. In fact, the duration for more ureteral stenting should be over soon; for individual situation, ask your doctor for detail and advice.
