STD: Urethral discharge and blood is definitely concerning for an STD, though there could be other causes. You should see your doctor or a local STD/sexual health clinic and start there, though if testing and/or treatment doesn't help you may need to see a urologist. Good luck!

they don't.: Many people get stds.  There is not a 100% transmission rate and it sometimes takes more than 1 exposure.  Still, much better to be careful.  Many people are not truthful about their status. Sex is not worth dying for.

STD ?'s: Chancroid and Lymphogranularm inguinale (donovanosis) are not common in the US.  If you have genital pain and open sores, get a referral to an infectious disease physician for more testing.

What was the test: specifically what test was performed? Many sexually active  women will turn HPV positive on their Pap smears while their partners are tested negative.  many men will be carriers for HPV virus and will test negative on standard tests

STDs often are found: ...in only one person in a couple. They're not always transmitted. The tests aren't perfect, can give false results. Most STDs go away even without treatment, so bf's infection might have cleared before he was tested. Or he was treated but didn't tell you. Syphilis is only transmitted when early; maybe you're beyond that stage. If gonorrhea, chlamydia or syphilis, bf still needs treatment.

2-3 weeks and 3 mos.: There are many possible sexually transmitted infections, including syphilis, hiv, hepatitis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, trichomonas, and human papilloma virus (hpv). Some of these have helpful tests to check for them, others do not. How long these tests take to turn positive varies, with some taking as long as 3 months. It is ok to check after 2-3 weeks, but i would check again after 3 months.

Unlikely, but possib: If one has an infection on the cervix, it's possible to have bleeding after sex, though very unlikely.  More unlikely at 43 years is hormonal fluctuations.  As we age, we tend to experience greater swings in our ovarian function, thus producing breakthrough bleeding. Another cause is a polyp or fibroid, for which you would need to see a doctor to diagnose.  If continues, that would be a good idea!

Yeast: A yeast infection is not considered a sexually transmitted disease, but men can get it from their female sex partners. Up to 15% of male partners of women with vaginal yeast infections will develop itching, a mild rash on the end of the penis, or other symptoms.Sep 30, 2014
