hi im 28 years old and i've been having pain on my left side near my breast and rib cage. i also have a whole bunch of unexplained bruises around that?

Trauma: The combination of pain and bruises suggests some sort of trauma to the rib cage region. Could it be from an ill fitting or overly stiff bra? Are you leaning against anything at home or at work. If the area is also tender to touch, it would point to injury or trauma causing pain and bruising.

Pulled muscle or ?: since the diaphragm attaches there, and that and the ribs are involved in coughing, muscle and connective tissue pain is a common cause. But if it persists, or you were struck or injured in that area, or you are feeling short of breath, consult a practitioner.

Costochondritis mayb: Trauma or injury obviously, but you would have reported that! sometimes even "minor" truma or even exercise or activity can cause an irritation of the ribs or the cartilage, called costochondritis. This can feel like a bruise. If associated with a deep breath, it can be another kind of inflammation called pleurisy, which is more serious. The location of the pain also suggests other causes.

Not certain: Pain on that  location could be from a lot of reasons. You will need to see your physician to clarify the answer.

Possibility: I wonder if it's something called costochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage in between your ribs which can feel an awful lot like bruising. The other anatomy around there would not make sense bilaterally to both be feeling the same way. Have you tried any OTC meds? I might try 500mg naproxen twice daily and heat to the area. See your doc if no better after a couple of days.
