Partial dislocation: You need to contact the facility where you had surgery and inform the anesthesia provider. During the course of general anesthesia and endotracheal intubation, you might have partially dislocated your jaw. If you are not able to get back to the facility, get an xray of your jaw. If it is partially dislocated, it can and should be reduced, similar to any joint dislocation.

Check TMJ: The temporal mandibular  joint may have a  probelm and your denist  would be your first  stop. See your dentist.

Why?: Why couldn't you open your mouth more than that with the first dentist? Did you open your mouth further for junior? If you did, you had something against the first one, whether you were conscious of it or not. Fear or anger has many faces.  With regard to 'after root canal work' there is something, definitely wrong if can't open mouth more than half inch.  Go back.

Varies: If the inability to open is a muscle related problem, moist heat, soft diet and an over the counter anti-inflammatory may help.  Sometimes a skeletal muscle relaxant may be prescribed as well.

If the inability to open is related to a possible TMJ problem, a more extensive exam may be needed with some additional diagnostic studies.

Also, an infected tooth can also limit your ability to open.

Reevaluation: Two weeks is a bit long not to have a decrease in symptoms.  Please return to the General Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon that did your extractions for a post-surgical reevaluation.

Not unusual: The pain and swelling, as well as occasional bruising associated with root canal therapy can occur whether the procedure was performed by a new endodontist or by a seasoned endodontist.  

Is the comment regarding being "rough" and "hard" related to your inability to keep your mouth open during the treatment?  You may consider asking for a mouthprop if you require additional dental procedures.

Get a dental X ray: Evaluation of the area of swelling may reveal the source of a common infection of the jaw possibly from the teeth.  Infections in this area should not be ignored because they can be very uncomfortable and potentially life threatening.

60 yr old male. ringing began 1.5 yrs ago.hearing above average. also rings loud when i bite or open mouth wide. improved by mouth opening exercises.

Please see below: This can be due to problems inside the ear or around and sometimes due to side effects of medication. I would recommend you to discuss those possible etiology with a doctor.
