why do child medications have artificial flavors?

Medicine tastes bad: Medicine tastes nasty, really nasty. It has to be sweetened and "dealt with" to make it palatable. I've tasted some of these, and found it difficult not to make a scene in front of the family. Natural flavors are expensive, and may go bad after awhile. Plus, artificial flavors are just more powerful at covering the nasty taste. Unfortunately, it may just be a necessary evil for now.

if i smoke a hookah pen with no marijuana, no weed, nothing, just the normal hookah with flavor, will it come out in a drug test?

Risk Mgmt: Drug tests detect drug - not flavored water. But, and this is possible - it that tubing and mouthpiece was recently used for smoking a controlled substance, it might be enough to trip the alarm in the test. If it matters a lot to pass, refrain till after the test. If not - you're good!

i smoked two hookah pens...i inhaled it...it had water vapor coming out and it was flavored.will it show up in a drug test? i'm peeing in a cup.

Drug test: This depends on what was in your hookah pen. If it had fruit flavorings only, it will likely not show up on a drug test. However, if it had thc, nicotine, or others in it, these could show up on your drug screen if testing for those. can almond extract cause me to fail a drug test? i had no idea it has alcohol in it and i put a very little amount in my iced coffee in the morning for flavoring?

: Did you fail a test for alcohol? Was it a blood test or urine? Does the list of ingredients for Almond Extract list alcohol as a content? You may wish to ask for a confirmatory test, if you did not have any other exposure to alcohol.

can you take zofran (ondansetron) with trilyte solution?  if so, when should i take it?  thanks!

Yes: Unless your doctor has told you otherwise, i would recommend taking it 30-60 minutes before you start taking the trilyte solution, so that it has time to be absorbed by your stomach and start working.

what is recommended dose of peg 3350  (to help against constipation) for a 6 years old 18 kg girl. it comes in packets of 17 g each but that packet i believe is an adult dose?

Varies greatly: There isn't a right or wrong dose for this particular medication.  The right dose is the one that works to soften stools without causing Frank diarrhea. I would start with half a pack in 8 ounces of water or juice. Then every 3-4 days, adjust dose up or down depending on results. If still having hard stools, increase to 3/4 packet in 8 ounces daily. You can go as high as 2 packets daily.

colonoscopy tuesday at 2:30pm, what is the best way to get cleaned out because i don't think i can do the peg 3350&electrolyte prep due to taste. help?

The : 1/2 liter peg preps are pretty well tolerated especially movi prep which is the one i use. You need to discuus the prep with your doctor immediately so they know you have issues with the prep and may need an alternative or to reschedule your procedure.

Colonoscopy: You should be able to drink clear soup or other liquids, but check with your gastroenterologist.

No: Artificial flavorings are used in many medications.  You can have pediatric antibiotics flavored at the drugstore. They do not cause dehydration.

what can i add to flavor to the rice for my kids on a brat diet?

Accepted Answer

Herbs: Try herbs like cilantro or parsley with a little salt.  Avoid pepper.
