Odd statement: There are no position sensors in the trachea so you don't feel things inside. Any foreign substance would trigger uncontrollable coughing. You can feel things in your throat and may have a sore in the swallow tube that would cause what you describe. See a GI doc who can look down your swallow tube. It should be something they can fix.

i'm 37 yo female. lump to immediate right of trachea. no pain upon swallow, but tender to even gentle touch. intermittent mild dysphasia.

Need to be checked: First you have to see your doctor , it could be  a simple inflamed lymph node , or thyroid tumor . you must see your doctor for investigation with out delay.

Need more Info: Best take this up with your doctor. This could be anything from a condition in your chest or just a stubborn virus. You probably need a good examination, x-ray of the chest and ear, nose and throat evaluation. This could be serious if it doesn't resolve soon.
