Depends: If your iron is too high you may have a condition called hemochromatosis which can have many consequences. You should talk to your doctor.

1 tube: They only need one tube to test the glucose level. There are 7-10 cc's in a tube, that's less than 2 teaspoons. Sometimes doctors do an additional test during that same draw, like a cbc, and they need a second tube for that.

only one high blood sugar following a glucose test during pregnancy. what does that mean?

Depends: If you did the one-hour test, it means you need to do the definitive 3 hour test. If it was one elevation on the 3 hour test, then you are not a gestational diabetic (unless your one was a really elevated fasting glucose). It is a good idea to watch your diet and carbs if you had one elevation tho.

Yes: Home glucose monitors can check blood sugar at home. There are also home kits to test a1c, a measurement of your average blood sugar over 2-3 months.

if my glucose test shows my blood sugar is normal but insulin blood test shows i'm insulin resistant, should i ask for a second opinion?

Accepted Answer

Insulin resistant.: You can always seek a second medical opinion on any medical issue.  That being said, it would not be unheard of to have insulin resistance with a normal blood glucose value.  But you may want to have a hemoglobin A1C test to better qualify the “normal” blood glucose.

Infection: You have an infection. It very well may be a sexually transmitted disease. Or it is a bladder or prostate infection. Please go get tested.

No: Some folks' kidneys leak a tiny bit of glucose. With healthy blood levels, it is a non problem.

i tested my blood sugar this morning and yesterday using a friend's blood glucose test and my blood sugar before eating came up 6.3 and the day before 5.9 does this mean i am prediabetes?

No: A blood sugar of 7.8 to 11 is considered prediabetic. Your readings were normal.
