should i use plan b? i was on a 3 day course of bactrim and had sex and the condom broke. i am on ortho tri cyclen lo for 7 years.  i am concerned that the bactrim may have effected my bc pill. should i take  plan b?

Plan B: If the condom was unreliable and broke, would take plan B as precaution, especially with Bactrim use during the time frame.

Plan B: is most effective when taken within the first 24 hours of intercourse and loses some effectiveness the further out it is taken. It is still effective 72 hours from intercourse.

Less effective : The longer after unprotected sex you take it the less effective the Plan B is. 4 days out it still works, but not near as well as taking it the same day. But certainly better than nothing. If you can see a doctor tomorrow to get a copper iud it will work better than everything else.

Effective: Plan B is more effective the sooner it is taken. Within the first 24 hours it is 95% effective. This falls to 85-87% at 72 hours.

Plan B: Plan B is basically double strength birth control pills. You are supped to take it the morning after an "unprotected" intercourse, hence the name "the morning after" pill. No exercise is not a: problem. Plan B One-Step is up to 89 % effective when taken within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex. It can reduce chance of pregnancy by up to 95% if used within 24 hours. It continues to reduce the risk of pregnancy up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex, but is less effective as time passes.

Are you using it so : That you can have unprotected intercourse? If so, that is not  appropriate. If you are using it due to failed protection - you need to explore why your other form of protection has failed twice in a week.
