Possible glossitis: is an inflammation (redness, swelling, pain, burning ) of the tongue. Burning is one of the common symptoms of the glossitis. Most cases of glossitis are minor and can be treated with home remedies. The main causes of glossitis are: allergy, infection, medication side effect or injury to the tongue, and nutritional deficiencies. See your PCP for physical and labs.

Need STI screening: Unprotected oral sex (given or received i.e. fellatio or cunilingus) associated with unprotected sexual-genital intercourse with someone who may be an oral or genital carrier of a sexually transmitted infection, does place you at risk for a STI in your oropharynx and in your pelvis. Consult a Gyn or an Infectious Disease doctor who specializes in screening and treatment of STIs to seek answers.

: I don't think this pattern sounds like a STD, unless you consider mono or other self healing viral process one. You can always get tested if you are pre-occupied with the idea. It may just be a fear that you did get exposed that worries you. Talk it over with your doc.

NO: Not an std.  We all have bumps on the back of our tongues called circumvallate papillae.  These help us to taste as well as secrete a type of saliva that helps to wash debris off of the papilla which helps them respond to taste stimulation quicker.

Mild itching (pruritus ani) with over-scratching? Yes, STDs can do this (gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, syphilis) if sexually exposed, but not HIV. Stop screwing around (pun intended) on a forum like this. Get examined and tested.

What to do: First, see a dentist for an exam and find out why you have those symptoms on your tongue and metallic taste. There are lot's of possibilities. Second, if you are concerned about getting std's, consult with your physician for an exam and testing. Better to be safe on both counts and  get whatever treatment you need (if any). Knowing you don't have anything serious is also comforting.
